Pirate Life Brewing began in the Summer of 2014, with Perth brewers Jack Cameron and Jared ‘Red’ Proudfoot journeying across the Nullarbor Plain to establish a fully functioning brewery from scratch in Adelaide. Pirate Life launched officially to the public in 2015 and has since gone from strength to strength.

Their latest promotion, ‘Win a South Coast Escape’, required a unique label that would house variable data to enable competition entry. Extended Content Labels (ECL) were the perfect solution. ECL’s are a flexible way to communicate short-term promotions without altering the main packaging. The tamper-proof seal on these labels makes them ideal to facilitate competitions, safely housing and protecting the variable data entry code.

ECL’s are manufactured at our specialist Christchurch site, with multiple configurations available to suit the unique requirement. This particular ECL is made of two synthetic layers, with an adhesive ‘kill’ area to enable the top layer to be peeled back as indicated by the Peel Here statement. A hinge area at the bottom of the label ensures the two layers remain connected. The base layer contains the competition entry details, including a unique variable data entry code to ensure all entries are genuine. A specialist coating is applied to the base layer to ensure the consumer can easily peel the top layer. Finally, both layers are laminated together using our specialised finishing press.

The ECL has been automatically applied to the PakTech can carrier of each four-pack.

“MCC have been fantastic to deal with from start to finish. Brodie was extremely helpful and accommodating supplying samples and different options throughout the design process to ensure we knew exactly what we were receiving. He was quick to find a solution and managed to utilise their specialist Christchurch facilities to complete the order well ahead of packaging deadlines.”
Amanda Layley, Marketing Manager Pirate Life
